Soomo Publishing, an independent publisher of web-based ancillaries for college students, hired Distance Software to create a building block for the popular Blackboard learning management system that would allow professors and students to transparently and securely manage and access the Soomo educational content via the Blackboard interface.
Football Outsiders is the leading site for independent football research on the web. Their proprietary, innovative statistics attempt to bring objective analysis to football to match the revolution in baseball writing and analysis seen over the last 20 years. Distance Software was contracted to migrate their WordPress-based site to a more modern Drupal-based infrustructure as part of a broader site redesign. In addition to Drupal installation and tuning and template creation based on their new design, the site was migrated onto an Amazon EC2 instance to provide scalability and flexibility for future expansion. The result is a site that is far more stable and usable than the previous version, currently serving over 200K pageviews a week.
Shadowbox Design
Distance Software has provided ongoing development work and technical support for Shadowbox Design for over a year. In addition to general debugging assistance on their existing application base, the Distance Software staff has provided technical management on a Lesson Plan creation tool using a Java Struts backend and a flash frontend, and a Ruby on Rails application for tracking educational assets, both for Pearson publishing in Boston.
